Virtual Family Cited by FDA Expert Witness during US Senate Committee Hearing

Jeffrey Shuren, MD, JD, Director of the Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH) of the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA), described the use of the Virtual Family (VF) models – developed in a international collaboration led by the IT’IS Foundation and the FDA – for electromagnetic, thermal, acoustic, and computational fluid dynamics simulations that could be used to supplement or even replace data from clinical investigations of new devices.

BioEM2015, the annual joint meeting of the Bioelectromagnetics Society (BEMS) and the European BioElectromagnetics Association (EBEA), was held June 14 – 19, 2015 at the Asilomar Conference Center in Pacific Grove, California. Our paper “EMC/EMI Near-field Testbed for EM Phasor Measurements Using Active Optical Sensors,” featuring the latest research in near-field EMC/EMI scanning technologies implemented in SPEAG’s TDS and ICEy systems, was awarded the Best Symposium Paper Award at the 2015 Asia-Pacific International EMC Symposium in Taipei, Taiwan.
