Two papers in support of the preliminary findings of the US National Toxicology Program (NTP) Study on Cell Phone Radiofrequency Radiation (RFR) and Carcinogensis have recently been published online in IEEE Transactions on Electromagnetic Compatibility.
The exposure systems used in the study, which were designed, manufactured, and installed by the IT'IS Foundation, are described in detail in Capstick et al. 2017 (Myles H. Capstick, Sven Kuehn, Veronica Berdinas-Torres, Yijian Gong, Perry F. Wilson, John M. Ladbury, Galen Koepke, David L. McCormick, James Gauger, Ronald L. The exposure systems used in the experiment – 21 reverberation chambers – provided maximum homogeneity and control over the RFR signals used, with reliable monitoring of all device conditions and environmental parameters.
The detailed life-time dosimetry analysis for rodents exposed in the NTP reverberation exposure systems is described in Gong et al. 2017 (Yijian Gong, Myles H. Capstick, Sven Kuehn, Perry F. In this study, the well-controlled exposure of individually housed, unrestrained mice at 1900 MHz and rats at 900 MHz was characterized. Whole-body, peak spatial, and organ-specific absorption rates (SAR) as well as the uncertainty and variation due to the exposure environment, differences in the growth rates, and animal posture were assessed. The detailed dosimetric results provide a reference for studies of long-term biological effects of exposure and empower comparisons with other studies.
